Genuine allyship doesn't happen overnight...
11 years ago, when I started working in the wedding industry, I was explicitly taught by my mentor how to discriminate against LGBTQ+ couples getting married.
In 2017, when Australia held an unnecessary and harmful vote on Marriage Equality, I finally came to realise that I had internalised my Queerphobia and built a business that perpetuated the discriminatory practises I was taught.
Since then, I have made it it my mission to
a) build a business that allows me to be my authentic self, and;
b) help other LGBTQ+ people feel safe, seen and celebrated when they hire other businesses.
Today I've taught hundreds of business owners how to be more LGBTQ+ Inclusive without feeling awkward or tokenistic.
